HushType is designed with privacy as its core principle. This policy explains our approach to your data: we don't collect any.
Our Privacy Promise
HushType is a privacy-first application. We have designed it to:
- —Process everything locally: All speech-to-text processing happens on your Mac using the Whisper AI model. Your audio never leaves your device.
- —Require no account: You don't need to sign up, log in, or provide any personal information to use HushType.
- —Collect no data: We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any user data. Period.
- —Work offline: HushType functions completely without an internet connection (after the initial model download).
Data We Collect
None. We do not collect any personal data, usage data, analytics, crash reports, or any other information about you or your use of HushType.
Data Stored on Your Device
HushType stores the following data locally on your Mac:
- —Transcription History: Your past transcriptions are stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.
- —App Preferences: Your settings (hotkey configuration, selected model, visual preferences) are stored locally.
- —Whisper Model Files: The AI model you download is stored locally on your device.
You can delete all local data at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing the app data.
Network Requests
HushType makes zero network requests during normal operation. The only network activity occurs when:
- —Downloading a Whisper model: When you first select a model size, it is downloaded from a secure source. After download, no further network requests are made.
We do not:
- —Send your audio to any server
- —Transmit your transcriptions anywhere
- —Phone home or check for updates (updates come through the Mac App Store)
- —Include any analytics or tracking SDKs
Third-Party Services
HushType does not use any third-party services that collect data. We do not integrate:
- —Analytics services (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
- —Crash reporting services (Crashlytics, Sentry, etc.)
- —Advertising networks
- —Social media SDKs
Children's Privacy
HushType does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change this privacy policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date above. Given our commitment to not collecting data, changes are unlikely.
